Fixed Wire Testing
Fixed Wire testing or electrical installation testing is also sometimes referred to as periodic testing. It involves the inspection and testing of installed electrical circuits, sockets, fixed appliances etc.
All buildings should be tested and inspected according to their individual risk assessment, which is normally evaluated when installed. Most commercial building are normally inspected every 5 years whilst residential buildings are commonly tested every 10 years. This is a very important part of your Health and Safety programme
which should not be lapsed.
Sometimes it's difficult to establish who’s responsible for the Fixed Wire Testing, especially if you are a tenant in the building. In our experience we have found that over 70% of Fixed Wire jobs that we contract for are the responsibility of the tenant.
You should look at your contract with your landlord/property management company to define who is responsible for the safety of your offices/buildings.
